Notes: 15 species of warblers, most this fall so far. The Empid was on top,
and was seen at eye level on several different perches and from different
angles. It was clearly a Traill's type, based on color, size, bill and
primary projection. It had a very obvious eye ring, and between that and
some other plumage features was almost certainly an Alder. The prevailing
wisdom is that you can't call a silent Traill's, but I discussed this bird
with Jon Dunn after I got home and he thinks it's an Alder also. Stay
tuned, I'll probably send it to the Record Committee. Pretty good day, and
they will only get better in Sept. Giff
