Subject: KMT RPT WEDNESDAY, 19AUG98 0720 TO 1045 WEATHER: It was beautiful today. Slightly hazy early on changing to a mostly bright and sunny morning. A great day for bird watching. Warm with a light breeze so that it wasn't noticeably humid. OBSERVERS: Kenny Peloquin, Bill Prather, Bruce Hallett and about eight others. Don't know where everyone came from since the last two days there was only me and Deb. But... it was a great day for birding and all had fun. We had several flocks this morning (maybe four in all). Here's what we saw. 1. 1 Turkey Vulture 3. 28 Chimney Swifts 4. 8 Ruby-throated Hummingbirds (very active) 5. 2 Great Crested Flycatchers 6. 2 White-breasted Nuthatches 7. 3 Blue-gray Gnatcatchers 8. 4 Red-eyed Vireos 9. 1 Tennessee Warbler 10. 2 Northern Parulas 11. 4 Chestnut-sided Warblers (one singing or trying to sing) 12. 5 Black-throated Green Warblers 13. 2 Blackburnian Warblers (both imm. females??) 14. 3 Prairie Warblers 15. 4 Cerulean Warblers (1 a.m.,1 imm. m., 2 imm. fem.) 17. 1 American Redstart (male) 18. 2 Worm-eating Warblers (both males?) 19. 3 Hooded Warblers (1 male and 2 females) 9 species not including the Tennessee which only one person thought they saw and not to the include the Black and White that I didn't have time to find. There seemed to be other birds on the mountain that were out of our range for Id. Might have been a higher list if you experts had been there today. Things are looking good. See you all soon.
