By early April we are typically getting YRWA counts in the 20s or more every day, and this year so far the daily numbers have been very low. For BTNW, by 4/4 here are the totals for recent years: 2005-22, 2004-54, 2003-52, 2002-12. This year so far is 6. Both 2004 and 2002 ended up being about 100 birds lower for spring than average years, so I don't think this early you can really tell. Early April also sometimes has high counts that we haven't seen yet, so maybe they are just a few days behind this year (4/5/2004-19, 4/3/2004-20, 4/4/2004-18).
