Date: Friday, August 21, 1998 9:59 PM WEATHER: Seemed like the first taste of winter as I almost put on a jacket as I started out this morning. Forecast was calling for fog this morning but I never saw any. It was clear and sunny all morning. Calm to start with a wind of 5 to 10 mph coming from the south southeast. OBSERVERS: KENNY PELOQUIN et al (Chris, Suzanna and Gilbert) Thought the morning was going to be a bust. Saw nothing all the way to the top. Met the other three birders at the top and after about 15 minutes a flock moved in that turned out to be quite good. We watched it for about 20 minutes and then it was gone. Here's what were happy to see. 1. 4 Turkey Vultures 3. 84 Chimney Swifts 4. 6 Ruby-throated Hummingbirds 5. 1 Red-headed Woodpecker 7. 1 Great Crested Flycatcher 8. 1 Purple Martin 9. 2 White-breasted Nuthatches 10. 5 Blue-gray Gnatcatchers 11. 1 White-eyed Vireo 12. 3 Blue-headed Vireos 13. 9 Red-eyed Vireos 14. 1 Blue-winged Warbler 15. 1 Northern Parula 16. 2 Yellow Warblers (1 male and 1 female) 17. 3 Chestnut-sided Warblers 18. 5 Black-throated Green Warblers 19. 3 Prairie Warblers (at least 2 adult males) 20. 1 Cerulean Warbler (adult male?) 21. 2 American Redstarts (both imm. males) 22. 2 Worm-eating Warblers (both females?)
