For all species, "common" is the period when most are seen. For more common species, this corresponds to the period of highest daily counts. For less common species, this corresponds to the period when they are seen most often, usually an uninterrupted period of days which includes most of the records for the season. Number with date in last column is high count this season, number in parentheses is all-time spring high count. For warblers, the last number represents the total number reported this season. Here are the highlights: Loons: 2 Red-throated on 4/12 (first spring record for the mtn, only one single in fall ) 17 Common in a single group on 3/24, and 5 on 4/16 Kinglets: It was a good year for Kinglets. Golden-crowned Kinglet: total of 260 reported, compared to 39 in 1998. High count of 39 on 3/21 Ruby-crowned Kinglet : total of 531 reported, (369 in 1998) with 38 on 4/7 & 4/18. Warblers: A total of 32 species reported in the spring, with a single high day on 4/24 of 30 species! A single Connecticut on 5/8 - 5/11, most likely same bird in same exact location. A single Prothonotary on 4/17 & 4/18 (first documented KMT record for this species) Here are some high counts for other species; Blue-winged 5 on 4/24 Nashville 4 on 4/24 Chestnut-sided 18 on 5/2 Black-throated Blue 7 on 5/2 Black-throated Green 33 on 5/2 Blackburnian 14 on 5/8 Palm - a total of 208 reported for the period with only 3 "eastern" all the rest "western". Easterns were all singles, 4/8, 4/14, 4/28.
