These pictures were taken on 8/2/2003 at the sod farm near the Etowah Indian Mounds in Bartow County, and along Brandon Farm Road on 6 May 2004 also in Bartow County , Georgia by Bob Zaremba. American Avocet is a rare spring and fall migrant inland in the piedmont of Georgia. These birds were actively feeding and stayed in the same general area most of the day. The first group consisted of six birds and the second was perhaps the largest migrating flock recorded in the Piedmont during fall migration and consisted of 17 birds.
